- We owned such a dog, and he did read my mind. When we acquired
him third hand, we were told he "ran away and got on trains."
(Apparently his first owner was a commuter.) He looked like Chewbacca
and only did two interesting things in his life. He raised hell
in the middle of the night when a vagrant crossed the school
property where we lived. Then once when we were on vacation,
he blocked the bedroom doorway where our kids were sleeping and
growled at the babysitter.
